I am inspired

Barack Obama has been lighting up the campaign trail. He has energized blocks of voters that have remained traditionally reticent. I have, on more than one occasion, gotten upset with whichever pundit happened to mention it at the time. "Don't tie your wagon to the youth vote", I would yell at the T.V. "They will only disappoint you in the end."

Then Caroline Kennedy weighed in with her endorsement, not solely because she, herself, had been moved by this junior Senator from Illinois, but equally because it is her own three teenage children who have been motivated to engage themselves, their friends and their family, politically. A real discussion is occurring. Are we, as Americans, ready to take back the reigns of our self-governance? Are we, as Americans, ready to seize our innate optimism? Are we, as Americans, ready to make history and help heal our world?

This discussion, had, until now, been passing me by. I was paying lip service, not only to the candidate but also to the inspiration he had been peddling. I had heard stories but had not experienced it, myself. This changed last night when, (thanks D-train), a friend showed me this:

A voice of reason has arisen. He is not the black candidate. He is not the Democratic candidate. He is my candidate. He is Barack Obama.
